Wall ovens and range ovens
Gas and electric ovens, single and double wall ovens, repaired in your kitchen by certified and insured technicians. The service call and diagnosis are free when you go ahead with the repair.
These are the oven problems we see most in Round Rock kitchens, with the parts behind them and a quick check you can do first.
An oven that stays cold, or heats only with the broiler, usually has one failed heating part.
The lower element on electric ovens can break or blister. If it doesn't glow on bake, it's likely done.
On gas ovens the igniter has to glow hot enough to open the valve. A weak one glows but never lights the burner.
This fuse cuts power when the oven overheats, often after a self-clean cycle.
Quick checkSet the oven to bake and look at the lower element after a few minutes. On an electric oven it should glow red.
Recipes that burn or come out raw at the usual time mean the oven isn't holding the temperature on the display.
The probe at the back of the oven drifts with age and reports the wrong temperature to the control.
Older ovens with a dial thermostat can run 25 to 50 degrees off over time.
A relay that sticks or drops out makes the oven overshoot or lose heat partway through.
Quick checkPut an oven thermometer on the middle rack, set 350°F and compare after 20 minutes.
The door stays locked until the oven cools, but if it's cool and still locked, the latch circuit has a fault.
The small motor that moves the latch can burn out from self-clean heat.
If the switch doesn't report the latch position, the control keeps the door locked.
The board can show a lock code and refuse to release, even with a good motor.
Quick checkLet the oven cool completely, then turn it off at the breaker for a minute. Don't force the door, because the latch can break.
If baking works but broil or convection doesn't, the problem is in those parts alone.
The top element can crack or burn through and stop glowing on broil.
The convection fan motor wears out and either stops or makes a grinding noise.
Many convection ovens have a ring element behind the fan. If it fails, convection cooking stays cool.
Quick checkCheck that the door is fully shut, since many fans stop when the door opens, and that the right mode is selected.
Smell gas? If you smell gas, don't use switches, phones or anything that can spark inside the house. Leave the house and call 911 or your gas company from outside. Our technicians repair the appliance itself; new gas line connections are a job for a licensed plumber.
Not sure which one it is? A technician can tell you on the first visit.
